About me
Salutations!
My name is Dionna L. Mann. I'm an independent researcher and children’s book author who loves uncovering inspiring human-interest stories hidden within African American history. As a work for hire author, I've written 20 children's books, both fiction and nonfiction, for Scholastic Press, Lerner, Capstone, Little, Brown, and other educational publishers. I'm delighted to say that my debut novel for young readers, MAMA’S CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS (Margaret Ferguson Books, August 6, 2024) was chosen as a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection!
Feel free to talk to me about:
1. How my SCBWI friends of the pen helped me along my journey to becoming a traditionally published author
2. Why my favorite place to sub was in the library
3. Some of the challenges and joys I've had while writing work-for-hire projects
4. To date, the most exciting discoveries I've had while doing research
